  • Description Robert Half is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected services company. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. Based in the Dallas, Texas area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.

    What you get to do every single day

    • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

    • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

    • Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

    • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

    • Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations

    • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

    • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

    • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

    • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

    • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

    • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible Requirements - High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

    • Deep understanding of Cash Flow Forecasts

    • Experience with Accounts Receivable (AR)

    • Foundational knowledge in Accounts Payable (AP)

    • Comprehensive knowledge of Shopify

    • Sage 100 experience preferred

    • Proven knowledge of US GAAP

    • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

    • Excellent oral and written communications skills

    • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

    • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

    • Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

    • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

    • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

    • CPA/MBA preferred

    • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

    • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

    • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
