    The Opportunity

    The Technical Trainer Engineer is responsible for the organization and development of training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials required to develop new and field personnel. In addition, the Trainer is responsible for assisting in establishing and developing standards of on-site training for customer maintenance and operator staff. Trains team in effective training techniques related to specific on-the-job training, promotional development, retraining, refresher training, and leadership development. Evaluates training packages / resources of external vendors to determine applicability to internal needs.

    How you will impact WestRock

    • Prepares technical documentation, Augmented Reality (AR) designs and other media as needed to develop training content.

    • Write / edit machine manuals and technical data documentation.

    • Works with operations team, service team and plant personnel to create specific content required to meet customers' training needs.

    • Records captures and other requirements needed for training of customer and internal staff members.

    • Follows standard format for the development of training content for WestRock (WRK) machinery as well as new employee training.

    • Trains on content for WestRock machine platforms.

    • Performs classroom and hands-on training for external and internal customers.

    • Communicates training results with employers.

    • Assists with the creation of work instructions for machine platforms.

    • Edits machine procedures for both internal and external customers.

    • Administer / Manage Vuforia Editor database - includes overseeing adding WRK employees and customers as required, removing past users, cataloging captures in proper folders, etc.

    • Continued update or redesign of existing templates for manuals, technical data booklets, and other forms of communication to ensure WestRock brand consistency.

    • Works with Service Management team to train on and develop skill and development matrix required for progression for upgrades.

    • Works with Training Manager to develop test benches and tests protocols as required to keep service proficient on new machinery and machinery upgrades.

    • Works with service team to ensure machinery documentation is kept up to date after machine upgrades and modifications.

    • Works with production to set-up and put on video Factory Acceptance Testing for customers.

    • Works with sales team to develop data that can be shared with potential customers for possible new orders.

    • Provides machinery documentation to service personnel as needed to troubleshoot or prepare customer orders.

    What you need to succeed

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical field.

    • Prior industrial training experience - Required.

    • Strong mechanical skills understanding how different components work together, following safety procedures, and using the right tools for the job - Required

    • Strong PC skills: i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, search and navigate the internet, Microsoft applications.

    • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) procedures and must follow strict safety guidelines.

    • Self-motivated and having the ability to learn new technologies.

    • Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to author accurate and concise service and expense reports.

    • Ability to develop procedures and training documents.

    • Up to 40% travel with nonstandard work week hours including weekends, holidays, and night shifts.

    • Valid passport and driver's license required.
