Description
We are seeking a Tax Director for our international manufacturing company based in Overland Park, Kansas. This individual will be tasked with supporting our North America Tax team in a variety of tax-related responsibilities. This involves managing income tax provisions, tax compliance, tax authority examinations, research projects, and more.
Manage US federal, state, and local income tax compliance, including tax return, workpaper preparation, extension filings, and audits.
Support the forecast of taxable income for federal and state estimates to the taxing authorities.
Assist in research, documenting, and maintaining tax matrix of all tax filings.
Provide support on tax examinations initiated by various jurisdictions.
Participate in tax planning with the aim of minimizing corporate exposure on all forms of taxation.
Investigate and resolve tax notices received.
Assist with quarterly and year-end tax provision process, including calculating book/tax differences, analyzing effective tax rate, etc.
Manage journal entries and account reconciliation for tax-related accounts.
Assist with the preparation of state and local sales/use tax returns for multiple operating business units, ensuring timely and accurate filing.
Assist with the preparation and filing of personal property tax returns for major plant facilities.
Manage non-income-based tax compliance.
Support other departments with entity related matters, such as business licenses, clearance letters, etc.
Contribute to and take an active role in continuous improvements and automation initiatives.
Prepare reports/analysis and participate in other projects as needed.
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field
In-depth knowledge of Corporate Tax Returns
Proficiency in Tax Accounting
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency in using tax software and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) is preferred
Knowledge of paper/packaging industry is a plus
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
