  • Description

    The Staff Environmental Scientist will assist in conducting and overseeing environmental assessments, supporting environmental compliance efforts, preparing permitting applications and analyzing environmental data for various types of projects, including power generation and electrical transmission construction activities, oil & gas activities, renewable projects, industrial sites and water treatment facilities.

    • Conducting field surveys, environmental compliance audits and assessments and collecting project-related data.

    • Preparing technical reports including industrial and construction Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESC Plans), Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Facility Response Plans (FRP), Hazardous waste management (RCRA), and environmental field studies.

    • Utilizing GIS data for map production in accordance with standards and industry best practices.

    • Performing environmental site investigations, supporting erosion control efforts and subsurface soil sampling.

    • Conducting environmental compliance audits.

    • Preparing a wide variety of permitting applications such as storm water, land use and local permits.

    • Observing and documenting environmental compliance on construction projects and industrial sites.

    • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

    • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Water Quality, Biology, Soil Science, or a related natural science degree from an accredited program required.

    • At least 4 years of related experience. Environmental consulting experience preferred.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.

    • Working knowledge of environmental site assessment methods.

    • Working knowledge of environmental compliance and compliance audits.

    • Working knowledge of the environmental permitting process.

    • Working knowledge of GPS and working in the ArcGIS environment.

    • Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    • Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
