Staff Accountant

Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in St. Paul, Minnesota. This role is focused on providing leadership and oversight for the accounting department, managing accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivable processes, and handling vendor and contract management. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all staff in the accounting department, monitoring work assignments and progress on projects

• Handle accounts payable duties, such as employee expense reimbursements, outside class reimbursements, and processing employee fringes and associated reports

• Serve as a backup for processing payroll, tracking and monitoring all employee wages in line with appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreements and associated payroll requirements

• Manage accounts receivable processes, accurately processing all cash receipts and continuously monitoring bank balance

• Review and implement all contracts and vendor agreements as per determined billing terms, and manage, record, and archive all vendor agreements and signed contracts

• Utilize skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, QuickBooks, SAP, Construction, and Construction Accounting

• Assist Accounting Auditors in yearly financial audit

• Provide leadership, management, and review of accounts receivable processes and work

• Manage the financial aspects of trade conventions and employee benefits packages

• Create and distribute required tax documentation

• Process employee fringes and associated reports to area benefits managers.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant, or similar role within the accounting field

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations, general ledger functions, and month-end/year-end close processes

• Ability to prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations

• Proficiency in using accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, and Sage Intacct

• Experience in the construction industry and construction accounting would be advantageous

• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Commitment to complying with all company policies and regulations

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and financial data analysis

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
