Sr. Accountant

John Asdell with Robert Half is partnered with a clinical stage pharmaceutical company that is seeking a Senior Accountant to join it's growing team. The company is exceptionally well capitalized and is preparing to IPO. As the Senior Accountant, you would play a critical role in managing various aspects of the financial operations. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records, performing financial analysis, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. This is an exciting opportunity that offers a strong cash compensation package along with stock options.

General Scope of Duties

• Manage the day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close procedures.

• Assist with clinical accrual entries.

• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.

• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support business decision-making processes.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.

• Support the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors as needed.

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and scalability.

• Stay current with accounting standards and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or Finance

• CPA designation highly valued, but not required

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

• Public Accounting experience highly preferred, public company readiness work is especially valuable

• Experience with month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, and analysis.

• Proficiency in NetSuite and Floqast valued, open to other systems experience
