Senior Staff Accountant

They've partnered with an esteemed organization in the Wholesale Distribution industry to find an experienced Staff Accountant for their team. The responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you'll have responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. This position will also require you to participate in compliance, as well as communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This multi-faceted, challenging long-term contract / contract to permanent opportunity is at a Morton Grove, Illinois based company where effort is rewarded and the environment is thriving.

What you get to do every day

• Maintain monthly payment schedules

• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

• Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

• Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management

• Participate in various department-wide initiatives

• Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

• Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

• Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

• Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Recent and relevant accounting experience

• Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

• Spreadsheet and database capabilities

• Self-starter and strong ethical standards

• Client reporting experience preferred

• Comprehensive knowledge of Excel Formulas

• Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

• Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

• Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

• Proficient in ERP systems

• Be detailed, flexible, and organized
