    POSITION SUMMARY : The Senior Corporate Counsel (Contracts) is responsible for reviewing and negotiating a broad range of contractual and other transactional matters relating to the Company's and its affiliates' business of delivering waste, recycling, and environmental services to commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential customers.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

    • Drafts, reviews, analyzes, and negotiates various types of contracts, amendments, confidentiality agreements, responses to requests for proposal and other transactional legal documents, including documents relating to environmental issues.

    • Provides legal advice and counseling to internal clients supported by the Commercial Services Group, including procurement, communications, marketing, product development, sales, and revenue management.

    • Assists in providing legal and professional support to the Company's corporate and field personnel on a range of legal matters, including relating to environmental issues.

    • Drafts and otherwise contributes to reports to the Company's Chief Legal Officer, senior management, and auditors.

    • Prepares legal budgets and recommends legal reserves.

    • Selects and manages outside counsel and internal legal staff.

    • Provides training to management and corporate and field personnel.

    • Assists with reviewing and drafting Company policies and procedures, contract review processes, department administration, and other matters.

    • Must follow playbook with respect to Company contracting standards.

    • Must work cooperatively with business personnel, give practical advice, think strategically, and resolve contractual issues with opposing counsel in a professional manner.

    • Is expected to apply superior attention to detail in all contract reviews.

    • Works extended hours, as required.

    • Overnight travel may be required.

    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience working in a large, multi-state corporate or legal environment

    • In-house counsel experience

    • Knowledge of federal, state and local statutes and regulations applicable to publicly traded organizations

    • A proven track record demonstrating the ability to independently make decisions regarding complex legal and corporate issues

    • Outstanding written and oral communications

    • Outstanding organizational and time management skills

    • Strong collaboration skills

    • Excellent judgment

    • High integrity

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • JD; licensed to practice law and in good standing

    • Minimum of six years of experience as a practicing attorney
