    Responsibilities

    This position is not fully remote. All staff are here usually on site one week a month during the month end close process.

    Job Summary / Purpose

    This position is responsible for certain accounting and reporting functions for the Northwest Region of CommonSpirit Health in accordance with CommonSpirit Health's policies and generally accepted accounting principles. The accounting functions include: month-end close process, recording cash activities, journal entries, account reconciliation's, account analysis, and other assigned tasks. Reporting responsibilities include: monthly reporting and analysis for assigned departments, and assistance for certain business units. Assists with the development of tools and processes to develop internal controls, work-flow processes, and desk procedures.

    Essential Key Job Responsibilities

    • Participates in the month end close process to ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately. Documents all work in the general ledger to provide reliable audit trail.

    • Preparing balance sheet account reconciliations.

    • Assisting Managers/Directors/VP Finance in initiating and improving processes and procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency.

    • Prepare journal entries for the general ledger.

    • Lead or assist on special projects with the ability to manage and work with other team members.

    • Responds to questions about posted transactions and ensures that relationships among accounts and other accountants are understood as transactions are processed. Reviews and corrects errors processed through feeder systems on a monthly basis.

    • Prepares analysis and assistance to department directors assigned to areas of responsibility.

    • Assists with preparation of budget for assigned areas.

    • Performs budget versus actual analysis for assigned areas. Report variances to business leaders and assist with development of action plans for improved performance.

    • Participate in year-end financial statement audits for assigned areas of responsibility.

    • Assists with financial and/or operational audits and examination of assigned entities.

    • Perform complex reconciliation of data from sub-systems to the general ledger. Ensure data integrity.

    • Assists with various projects and analysis to ensure performance objectives.

    • Stays current with accounting literature and GAAP to ensure accounts are stated in accordance with relevant principles.

    • Communicates with Manager and Director regarding work performed, status of open issues, expectations regarding timelines, etc. and promotes transparency in all work product.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. Minimum of five to seven years of experience in accounting, which includes three to five years appropriate experience. Healthcare accounting experience a plus.

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

    Strong Excel skills required

    Pay Range

    $29.16 - $42.28 /hour
