    The Safety Support Specialist is responsible for the FSC safety program and provides support to the safety and environmental management team, facility Safety Managers, and Community Centers. Coordinates efforts to control and accurately report loss-producing conditions and activities involving unsafe working conditions, employee accidents, injuries, and related events. Assists and coordinates training schedules of the facility Safety Managers. Applies knowledge of OSHA, NFPA and ACA practices in collaboration with Management team. Researches varied and complex regulatory updates and interprets impact and application to CoreCivic.

    • Manages FSC safety and environmental program, maintains and files OSHA reports. Formulates and supervises the execution of safety and risk mitigation initiatives with FSC department heads, safety representatives and others as applicable.

    • Manages the Team Safety Incident Management System (TSIMS), ensuring the quality and accuracy of the database is maintained to a high standard. Trains and supports field Safety Managers on the TSIMS. Ensures content is current and relevant to the corrections industry. Prepares safety metrics reports.

    • Supports facilities, provides training and assists in the implementation of the company's job safety programs. Evaluates the effectiveness of the implementation of the safety program at each facility.

    • Coordinates with facility Safety Managers to develop CoreCivic incentive and reward programs to reward employees for continued safety efforts.

    • Develops and publishes the monthly CoreCivic Safety & Environmental Newsletter.

    • Maintains communications and ensures that the status of facility fire suppression and detection systems are updated.

    • Domestic U.S. travel may be required.

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in a related field is required.

    • Two years of experience in full-time secretarial or administrative office work, preferably in a similar position, is required.

    • One year of safety and incident management experience is preferred.

    • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills,problem solving, analysis, and decision making ability.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

    • Minimum Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age

    • A valid driver's license is required.
