    Job Summary and Qualifications

    What You Will Do In This Role:

    1. Performs daily review on all incoming payments using the Explanation of Benefits from contracted payers once posted by Cashiering Department. Confirms payment is made according to MHS contracts. Notifies manager if any payer is not consistently paying according to contract, such as overpayment or underpayment.

    2. Notates each account that review was performed, indicating if payment is accepted or if account is needing appeal based on the contract information. If appeal is to be done, the contract analyst will indicate the expected reimbursement.

    3. Forwards copy of Explanation of Benefits to appropriate personnel, underpay explanation of benefits to Appeals Coordinator or Collector, Overpayment to Refund Analyst and secondary payment request to Billing Coordinator. Issues appropriate adjustment to account after final billed.

    4. Quotes estimated charges to inquiring patients with contracted payers to include cash quotes for physician's office for indigent patients for all surgery centers.

    5. Understands medical terminology and answers incoming calls within the Business Office and helps patients as necessary to the best of their ability.

    6. Copies and distributes new insurance contracts received to appropriate personnel.

    7. Assists in monitoring productivity and quality. Identifies areas for improvement.

    What Qualifications You Wil Need:

    Minimum Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer on-year previous general office experience. Medical terminology knowledge is helpful. Knowledge of Meditech required.
