  • What You Will Do

    The permanent duty station of this position is located in Woodbridge, Virginia. The successful candidate will be required to be available for on-call a minimum of two weeks each month (24/7 including holidays).

    A-5: Complex Response Solutions is looking for a motivated candidate that enjoys working in a fast paced and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will primarily support the Nuclear Incident Response community. They will serve as a supporting architect of large and complex hardware, software, database, networking, and/or telecommunication solutions. This entails helping define and incorporate requirements into fielded solutions that may be commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) or internally developed software and hardware. This position will also be responsible for the readiness of multiple communications suites that provide mobile field expedient classified computing.

    The successful candidate will also have significant logistics management responsibilities. They coordinate the day-to day operations of a facility occupied by NNSA federal employees, various interagency partners, and staff from multiple national laboratories. The onsite staff rotate on a weekly basis and require support for badging, training, weekly event planning, and other miscellaneous tasks that the person in this role will serve.

    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    Technical Experience: Expert knowledge and experience in architecting complex networking and computing solutions across multiple IT focus areas utilizing various technologies or methods.

    Technical Knowledge: Willingness and ability to expand existing technical scope of knowledge and skills to include multiple IT disciplines and focus areas.

    Training & Readiness: Extensive experience with maintaining an emphasis on training, procedures, and preparation for high-consequence, low-frequency events. Ability to respond quickly to problems and to address rapidly changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often demanding environment.

    Communication & Teaming: Demonstrated success developing and implementing solutions in a collaborative, team environment. Experience leading and working with a technical team.

    Project Leadership: Proven history of program or project ownership and attention to detail in critical mission-space.

    Nuclear Responder: Must be able to qualify as Nuclear Incident Responder.

    Classified Networking: Experience implementing best practices that are applicable to the Standards of the Intelligence Community Directives, Policy Guidance and Policy Memorandums.

    Education/Experience: Position requires a minimum of 10-15 years of related experience.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Expertise in policies and procedures surrounding classified computing (e.g. cybersecurity, physical security, COMSEC, etc).

    • Experience coordinating logistics for complex operations.

    • Experience working with DOE and DOD classified networks (TS/SCI experience preferred).

    • Practical understanding of inline hardware encryption solutions.

    • Demonstrated experience successfully coordinating or leading efforts for a team comprised of multiple skills and backgrounds.

    • Experience working with enterprise switch, router, and firewall platforms (Cisco, KLAS, etc.)

    • Experience working with situational awareness applications (TAK)

    • Experience working with LTE, GEO and LEO transport technologies.

    • Training/Certifications: Desirable for the successful candidate to hold relevant technical certifications such as CCNP, CompTIA Network+, etc.

    • Active Q, SCI, or TS clearance

    Clearance: Q / SCI (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.

    *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

    Work Location: This position will be physically located in Woodbridge, Virginia . When on-call, the successful candidate must be able to respond to the worksite within one hour. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

    Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

    Note to Applicants: This position will require occasional travel and working non-standard hours.

    Additional Details

    Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

    Clearance: Q/SCI (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

    New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

    Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

    Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
