  • Job Description Summary

    The Materials Manager is responsible for the purchasing process of the BDZ facility, which includes inventory control: ordering all MRO, Production Raw Materials, Capex, and Facility supplies/needs, maintaining an appropriate inventory of all materials. Inclusive of issuing POs for NPD and Sustaining Materials to suppliers on ASL ensuring Master Supply Agreement adherence. Provides support to the Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Purchasing teams. Communicates appropriate information to other team members. May have additional responsibilities designated by the manager.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assure compliance of materials team to all appropriate Quality, Safety, Environmental, Labor and Financial Regulations.

    • Accountable for selection and sustainability of a high-performance team including:

    • Foster the establishment of an inclusive work environment.

    • Establish and monitor goals and objectives for direct reports including providing ongoing feedback regarding performance against objectives and oversight of monthly/annual budgeted and other functional commitments (quality, service, inventory, cost, variances, etc.).

    • Provides coaching, training and development to direct reports and partners to achieve business objectives.

    • Define and implement Materials strategies and goals to align with plant objectives and growth trajectory including:

    • Develop and owns strategic procurement plan for the site in collaboration with global procurement.

    • Establishes preferred supplier framework.

    • Develop and Negotiate Master Supply Agreements with Strategic Suppliers.

    • Participates and influences new product development activities and manufacturing transfers.

    • Actively manage supplier performance in collaboration with sourcing team to optimize Purchase Price Variance (PPV), On-Time Delivery and Quality performance of vendors.

    • Owns Plant Raw Material Inventory Budget and reports on variance to budget with a focus on DIOH improvement and overall inventory reduction.

    • Coordinates with Finance team on inventory write off and accrual levels.

    • Manage inbound freight expenses to align with budget.

    • Finds opportunities for inventory reduction and actively supports implementation as directed.

    • Periodically reviews and dispositions Excess & Obsolete, Unscheduled, Expired inventories and approves disposal of damaged, returned product reported by Warehouse.

    • Owns and establishes RTV process and procedures.

    • Frequently reviews and maintains the integrity of MRP and SCM parameters (lot/order size, lead times, Days Forward Supply, Safety Stock) and provides data for Key Performance Metrics (Schedule Compliance, Time Fence Violations, Work in Process Inventory Turnover, Projected Inventory at Risk/Stock Loss)

    • Responsible for communicating significant current/potential supply and supplier issues (non-compliance, material, sourcing, delivery, quality etc.) to Supply Network Planning, Plant Management, and Business Leaders.

    Educational Qualifications & Previous Experience

    • BA/BS Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting, or relevant field of study preferred.

    • MBA or Master's degree in related field preferred.

    • Minimum 5-8+ years leadership and/or experience in purchasing, production control, inventory control and/or manufacturing operations.

    • Lean experience, Six Sigma preferred.

    • Proven track record of implementing change, driving cost improvements.

    • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, teach, & train.

    • Organized & systems / process driven.

    • Detail oriented with high level of problem solving and analytical skills.

    • Medical device / regulated manufacturing experience.

    • Growth mind-set & Servant Leader.

    • Strong working knowledge materials and plant financials preferred.

    • General understanding of GMP, ISO, OSHA & EAP requirements.

    • Foster the establishment of a constructive functional work environment.

    • Good critical thinking, able to operate independently.

    • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.

    • Effective negotiating skills.

    • Effective analytical/problem solving skills.

    • Project Management experience.

    Desired / Additional Skills & Knowledge

    • Advanced Excel Experience preferred.

    • Days and hours of work vary

    • Standard shift is Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM

    • May be required to flex hours if needed to communicate with off-shifts

    • Travel in and outside of the US may be required to support complex project planning and collaboration.
