  • The Lead Cash Operations Analyst provides large-scale analysis on internal control and financial accounting of complex cash processes. This requires comprehensive experience in and understanding of the multi facets of Health System cash operations, treasury and cash management activities and alignment and workflow interfaces with Revenue Cycle Management and individual Health System departments for all incoming and outgoing Health System cash transactions. The Lead Cash Operations Analyst accomplishes these objectives through the design and execution of cash operations auditing programs and banking services that ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance standards associated with cash transactions. The Lead Cash Operations Analyst supervises assigned staff to ensure cash is properly safeguarded and handled according to policies and procedures and adheres to proper internal controls. The position also serves as the internal expert on cash collections and banking services and ensures integration of patient records, banking and financial reporting requirements according to Health System operational and financial requirements.

    • Designs and oversees the UVA Health Cash Operations Auditing programs and audit database to ensure safeguarding of cash and compliance with internal controls and regulatory/PCI requirements for all cash collection types at all Health System locations.

    • Identifies potential risks and implements financial and internal control process plans, business process development, workflow integration and documentation as related to cash operations for all existing and new/expansion for the Health System. This includes but is not limited to:

    • Epic cash drawer design and build

    • PCI risk assessment and attestations for UVA Health credit card transactions and associated outside parties

    • Developing training materials for IT, Revenue Cycle Management and Epic users

    • Identifying and implementing banking services required to support collection and disbursement efforts for UVA Health, including cash, check and credit card/electronic payments and disbursements

    • Develops and maintains all policies and procedures related to cash collections and disbursements.

    • Oversees handing of UVA Health cash collections and disbursement distributions.

    • Serves as principal contact and relationship manager for clinic courier and armored car services.

    • Identifies and initiates changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of cash collection and disbursement practices.

    • Supervises assigned staff.

    • Assists in communications, education and training regarding cash operations process development, status and implementation to assure clear understanding across all Health System entities.

    • Prepares and explains cash operations analyses and all Health System cash operations inquires required by the annual APA audit.

    • Communicates effectively with all levels of Health System team members, including upper level leadership, regarding cash operations processes, issue resolution and workflow integrations.

    • Troubleshoots and resolves complex inquiries from all Health System entities and departments relating to the status of incoming or outgoing cash transactions through utilization of standard and customized reports and creation of ad hoc queries across multiple internal and external systems and reporting tools.

    • Independently and proactively identifies and communicates to appropriate Health System entities, outside vendors and banking partners, impactful cash operations events and potential outcomes and mitigation/resolution options.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Position Compensation Range: $30.74 - $49.18 Hourly

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business healthcare administration required. Master's Degree preferred.

    Experience: Seven years related experience required. Healthcare experience preferred.

    Proficiency in Excel, Epic, and database management required. Experience with commercial treasury management systems required. Experience with computerized financial reporting systems required, PeopleSoft strongly preferred.

    Licensure: PCIP certification within 18 months of filling position required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
