  • What You Will Do

    We are seeking an individual with the desire to make an immediate impact across the Information and Technology (I&T) superdivision by establishing an IT Data Analytics, Metrics and Reporting program within the Program Strategy and Execution (PSE) Division's Portfolio Management Office to meet the needs of LANL's business and mission interests.

    One of the primary objectives of the IT Data Analytics, Metrics and Reporting I&T Program Manager will be to lead a program across the I&T superdivision focused on driving standards and coordinating a virtual team comprised of various source system SMEs for I&T data. The selected candidate will be responsible for I&T's metrics and reporting program to include generation and consolidation of data into various monthly metrics, KPIs and reports.

    To effectively lead this program, the chosen person will:

    • Translate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support executive decisions

    • Design, develop, manage, and use information to gain insight and enable innovation.

    • Develop an overall vision and standard for utilizing I&T's data for metrics, KPI's, data calls, and other high-level reporting functions.

    • Develop effective processes for data collection, storage, distribution, archiving, and destruction.

    • Build comprehensive diagnostic services and solutions which transform data into information that delivers strategic insights which create value and support decisions across the LANL Enterprise.

    • Recommend IT process improvement initiatives applying evidence-based methodologies.

    • Set standards and policies for the IT analytics environment.

    • Communicate program mission, goals, and objectives to all stakeholders and report on the effectiveness of the program to senior management.

    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    The position requires sufficient experience to effectively navigate the organization while understanding the mission and how I&T systems, products, and programs support it.

    • Experience working with IT Service Management processes and/or leading IT Services

    • Advanced analytical expertise with at least 7 years of working experience in a data analyst position.

    • Advanced working knowledge and ability to discover, interpret and communicate significant patterns in data.

    • A broad working knowledge of analytics tools with experience in warehousing, data lakes and BI reporting and dashboarding technologies, with ability and desire to stay updated on emerging data technologies.

    • Proven ability to lead initiatives that relate to individual department optimization, working with operational leads and other senior stakeholders to improve performance across the business.

    • Experience working with business stakeholders to drive vision by championing the use of data.

    • Experience with Business Intelligence tools.

    Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Postgraduate degree in related field may serve as years of related experience.

    Desired Qualifications:

    Current ITIL training and certification or equivalent. Experience working within a Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and/or financial program offices.

    Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

    Position commitment: Position Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.     Work Schedule: This position will be Telework, but will require episodic onsite engagement depending on current activities and needs of the program or management.

    Additional Details

    Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (~~~) .     Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

    *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 (~~~) for additional information.

    New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

    Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

    Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
