  • Overview

    SOSi has an opportunity for a hands-on Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support the Civil Solutions Business Unit in El Paso, TX. You will use your business acumen and HR experience to support leaders and employees in achieving business outcomes through change management and employee engagement while promoting operational effectiveness. This role will work with SOSi's functional units as well as HR's centers of excellence to ensure successful execution of on-boarding, off-boarding, employee relations, performance management, training, and compliance. The HR Generalist will support both site-specific and Company-wide HR initiatives and projects.

    Essential Job Duties

    • Partners with employees and management to interpret and communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, employment laws, standards, and government regulations.

    • Responds to inquiries from employees and managers concerning a variety of sensitive and confidential human resources matters.

    • Maintains awareness of employment and labor laws and makes recommendations as appropriate.

    • Answers front-line HR related and benefits questions from employees and escalates complex questions and issues to the appropriate groups.

    • Investigates, documents, and resolves employee relations issues and grievances.

    • Assists with the coordination and delivery of new employee on-boarding, orientation, and other employee-related programs.

    • Coordinates and communicates employee transfers, promotions, and other status changes to relevant parties.

    • Coordinates employee departures. Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.

    • Coordinates and assists with the administration of internal surveys.

    • Writes, maintains, and supports a variety of reports or queries, utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assists in development of standard reports for internal customer needs.

    • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.

    • Recommends innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of programs.

    • Maintains and coordinates contract specific employee recognition programs.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in human resources or a related field.

    • 4 years of human resources generalist experience or 8 years of progressive experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree with HR, including significant exposure to employee relations, employment and labor laws, benefits, and compensation.

    • Must have knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HRIS, Outlook, Internet navigation and research.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • PHR or SPHR Certification

    • Bilingual in English/Spanish

    Work Environment

    • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

    • Work location will be onsite.

    • Travel up to 5%

    • Ability to lift and/or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
