    Position: HR Generalist (Contract)

    Duration: 3-5 months

    Location: San Mateo, CA (2-3 days on-site)

    We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a HR Generalist in the non-profit industry, based in San Mateo, California. The HR Generalist will play a key role in our HR department, focusing on supporting new hire orientations, the onboarding process including initiating background checks and connecting with candidates for new hire paperwork, as well as maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS.

    Responsibilities

    • Facilitate new hire orientations, ensuring a smooth introduction to the organization

    • Assist in the onboarding process, including initiating background checks and coordinating with new hires for necessary paperwork

    • Create and manage candidate profiles in the HRIS, ensuring accurate and timely data entry

    • Generate reports in the HRIS for employee data to assist with system implementation

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS, ensuring data integrity

    • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, safeguarding sensitive employee information

    • Address routine employee inquiries, providing timely and accurate HR support as needed

    • Assist in some aspects of talent acquisition and recruitment, as required

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures

    • Coordinate and assist with training and development programs for employees.

    Requirements - Minimum of three years of experience in a HR Generalist role, preferably within the non-profit sector

    • Proficiency in benefits coordination and HR compliance management

    • Experience in conducting new employee orientation and onboarding processes

    • Demonstrated ability in personnel file maintenance and recruiting

    • Experience in designing and implementing training and development programs

    • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    • Proficiency in using HR management software and digital tools

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

    • Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) is preferred

    • Understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
