    We are looking for a talented Government Relations Specialistto join our team specializing in Government Relations for our Corporate/CBS Segment in Washington D.C.

    In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

    • Monitor and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory issues affecting Cummins' operations in the U.S.

    • Support the government relations team by conducting research and drafting documents.

    • Draft summaries of new laws, regulations, and interpretations, and distribute them to relevant stakeholders.

    • Prepare presentations on pending and new legislation and regulations for business leaders.

    • Prepare draft responses to clarify the organization's position on proposed legislation or regulations.

    • Track filing and reporting deadlines for political action committees and lobbying efforts.

    • Develop a strong understanding of government operations and lobbying practices, building beneficial contacts.

    • Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and ethical concerns within the jurisdiction and across the organization.

    Education/Experience

    • College, university, or equivalent degree required.

    • Minimal relevant work experience required.

    Additional Information

    • The selected candidate willsuccessfully manage the Cummins Inc. Political Action Committee and develop Cummins Government Relations internal communications.

    • The Government Relations Specialist will also assist the team on additional projects as needed.

    • Strong project organization and management skills to manage CIPAC and lead recruitment efforts to strengthen participation in CIPAC.

    • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state regulation campaign finance law; and develop and execute on an overarching communications strategy to highlight the work of the Government Relations team across the globe.

    • The Government Relations Specialist will also monitor legislative and regulatory issues as assigned that may impact the business in the US along with an understanding of the company's global footprint and will support the government relations team with research and document drafting on issues of importance to the company.

    • Manages Political Action Committee and ensures compliance with federal and state legal requirements, Company policy and PAC By-Laws.

    • Leads recruitment and communication efforts related to the PAC and its' activities; including management of websites and blog entries related to government affairs activity.

    • Manages special projects including leader and employee education activities, legislative information sessions, and other related events and activities; builds and maintains relationships with consultants that support special projects; manages PAC reporting timelines and requirements.

    • Undertakes special research projects as requested by the Manager.

    • Develops and maintains a strong understanding of the business and business issues within the U.S. and is familiar with the issues affecting the company across the world.

    • Performs administrative tasks necessary for efficient operation of the government relations office.

    • Previous work or internship experience is a plus.

    • This position may entail up to 10% travel within the United States

    Compensation and Benefits

    Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

    Base salary range: $56,000 - $84,000

    Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
