Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. We are responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. We are looking for a passionate Global Contracting Excellence team member to help build the network that powers the world's largest online services.
Within CO+I, the strategic Supply Chain team is responsible for establishing a supply chain that can meet the ever-growing growth of the Microsoft Cloud and our customers. We support a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-billion, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects and operations of those assets. We are looking to fill a critical role of Global Contracting Excellence for Services which will transform, and then maintain, the global documents, templates and supporting information that form the signed contract mechanism between the parties.

Responsibilities
The Global Contracting Excellence for Services for Supply Chain will be the global stakeholder focused on the master document library which collectively form the legal, technical and commercial basis of the Contract mechanism(s) itself used during execution of the work. You will have extensive familiarity with both lean and prescriptive contract structures and the level of documentation/definition required for each. You should have understanding of the how the various parts of a contract, legal terms, technical scope and commercial structure work in concert to define the contractor or service providers obligations under the agreement. You should have relevant technical writing skills and the ability to properly articulate Microsoft minimum requirements in the contract documents without creating risk or scope gaps/overlap. You should have global contract experience and understand the nuances of how contracts are placed in different regions. You will have knowledge of the various types of contract methods (Design, Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, Construction Management, Engineering Procurement Construction Management, etc.) as well as the different pricing formats (Lump Sum, Guratenteed Maximum Price [GMP], Time & Material [T&M], Cost+, Unit Price) that work can be based on commercially.
Operational Execution and Planning
Has managed complex construction service contracting operations by utilizing various systems and processes, and creating operational plans to be executed. Evaluates and supervises the work of contracted design and/or construction service providers to optimize cost and service capacity. Partners cross-functionally both internally and externally to integrate and align operations with data center project sites, service providers, and Microsoft's business functions.
Ensures internal and third-party compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Proactively communicates delay potential to management and executes contingency measures when issues are identified.
Proactively seeks out opportunities for development and evolution of workstream processes. Ensures execution according to accepted procedures for consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of delivery. Identifies opportunities of simplification and automation with focuses on sustainability.
Partners with third-party vendors to manage the operations and is responsible for maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs). Guides site leaders in aligning with Microsoft culture and management processes. Manages processes, cadence, rhythms, throughput, and capacity standards. Contributes to the automation roadmap and standard capabilities. Designs and suggests new service offerings. Manages value added services including configuration and product transformation.
Drives development of negotiation strategies and objectives for higher dollar value deals, ensuring alignment with other stakeholders and groups. Negotiates contracts for a broad range of services and/or resources. Leads development of materials for use in negotiation procedures and prepares for review with senior leadership. Manages request for proposal (RFP) and contracting activities with cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Legal) and ensures contracts meet both price and capacity needs while also reflecting Microsoft's cross functional engagements with suppliers. Evaluates supplier terms and helps build contracts optimized for Microsoft and its suppliers' mutual business needs.
Ensures suppliers are compliant with Microsoft business requirements (e.g., security, social responsibility, payment terms). Drives timely corrective actions based on needs identified from business reviews and audits. Facilitates efforts to drive suppliers toward targets for operational and cost metrics, and hosts business reviews. Drives co-innovation, creates roadmaps, and contributes to continuous improvement activities to further develop the supplier.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, operations-related roles, or engineering
OR equivalent experience.
4+ years contract management experience, in a direct action or supervisory role, of complex construction contracts in the data center, or related heavy industrial sector.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, or operations-related roles
OR equivalent experience.
Fulfillment & Logistics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
