    The Department of Medicine's Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology & Nutrition has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Fiscal Technician 1. This position provides assistance to the basic research programs within the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute (UWMDI) by completing identified fiscal functions for the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition. This position reports to the UWMDI Manager of Program Operations.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with pre-award processes such as Material Transfer agreements (MTAs), Confidential Disclosure agreements (CDAs), advance budgets, eGC1/MOD preparation and submission, and grant submissions.

    Assist with post-award processes including interim progress reports, annual progress reports and final reports.

    Assist with SAGE budget creations as needed.

    Monthly Budget Reconciliation using institutional systems and program tracking systems, locating and matching source documents with posted expenditures, researching and resolving discrepancies.

    Review and reconcile Procard, locating back up documentation for all transactions.

    Review incoming invoices for accuracy, consult with research team for verification of activity, pay invoices, follow up and track invoices not received based on activity, and maintain tracking systems.

    Assist in preparation and compilation of financial reports.

    Process Payroll Accounting Adjustments, as needed.

    Submit expense transfer requests as needed.

    Assist with budget close-out and budget extensions, as needed.

    Maintain all fiscal documentation required for audit/regulatory compliance.

    Maintain internal file systems for finance and operations documents.

    Communicate with vendors and sponsors as needed.

    Assist Manager and Program Operations Specialists with other duties as needed.

    Minimal amount of administrative support for research program seminars as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma, or GED certificate; AND 1 year of accounting or bookkeeping experience.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS One year of experience providing administrative support in the area of fiscal and/or business management or equivalent education/experience. Extremely competent working with Microsoft Excel.

    Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

    Familiarity with University systems.

    Familiarity with UW policies and procedures such as Procurement, Travel, Budget reconciliation, etc.

    Possess an eagerness to work in an environment with a healthy workload of paper and electronic tasks.
