Financial Analyst

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Financial Analyst in the retail industry, based in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role is integral to providing financial oversight for store supplies related expenses and expense inventory control across various distribution facilities. The position will involve preparing various financial reports and analyses and will function as a liaison between Field Operations and other departments.

Responsibilities

• Compile, analyze and provide detailed and summary financial reports on a regular basis to drive expense savings and profitability.

• Organize the fiscal period close process, including invoice uploads, accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliation.

• Serve as the subject matter expert for projects and processes related to store supplies, budget preparation, and other strategic initiatives.

• Manage and monitor various expense lines, working with the field and various departments to resolve issues and minimize expenses.

• Identify root causes for business problems and analyze expense lines to provide business commentary and solutions.

• Work with Suppliers and Vendors as needed to support initiatives and help drive revenue and expenses savings.

• Monitor and make recommendations on weekly shortage and inventory level reports including bags, PPE, and PO/DC receipt issues.

• Utilize skills in Expense Reporting, Finance, Ad Hoc Analysis, Analysis, Ad Hoc Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting, and Microsoft Excel to perform duties effectively. Requirements - Must possess strong skills in Financial Analysis and Reporting

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory

• Experience in Expense Reporting is required

• Must be adept at performing Ad Hoc Analysis and Ad Hoc Financial Analysis

• Should possess a comprehensive understanding of Finance and its applications in the retail industry

• Capability to analyze and interpret complex financial data is essential

• Knowledge of retail industry trends and financial best practices is preferred

• Excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary.
