Estimator

Description

Our concrete contractor client is seeking an Estimator for 200,000 sq. ft. + commercial and industrial flatwork concrete projects around metro-Detroit. In the role, you will be estimating and bidding up to 3 projects at a time, and will be constantly meeting with owners/developers/clients and selling their services, establishing budgets, schedules, scope of work. Day-to-Day: · Develop project leads · Read and interpret project specifications and plans · Prepare detailed, comprehensive and accurate quantity take-offs · Generate estimates and proposals for selected projects · Actively pursue bid projects with timely follow up and awareness of project status · Prepare a "take-off" of materials included in the job · Develop and maintain positive relationships and ethical practices with owners, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers · Assist operations department during construction · Assist operations with awarded contracts and projects as required - may include estimating/pricing change orders and facilitating resolution of any contractual issues · Assist in developing and maintaining existing estimating productivity database

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

1. 3+ years of commercial and/or industrial concrete project estimating 2. Proficient with computer technology skills such as Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) 3. Proven and references skills as a critical thinker and leader 4. Excellent communication and relationship building skills verified through references BONUS: 1. Field experience as a PM with a concrete sub 2. Comes from a laborer role within concrete construction
