    BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

    The position of Director, Safety & Security will provide the direction and program management regarding occupational health, safety & security requirements and initiatives for the purpose of reducing incidents associated with injuries, illness, and security. This position will develop and implement systems that ensure compliance with global, federal, and local requirements. In addition, this position will develop, implement, and maintain management systems associated with occupational health and security as needed.

    DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides leadership to MSC's safety and security programs and supports coordination with MSC's operations. Leads cross-functional safety leadership initiatives and projects.

    • Formulates general safety policies and procedures to be followed by company in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) rules and regulations.

    • Implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents and occupational illnesses.

    • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.

    • Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.

    • Designs, plans, and directs the implementation of strategic plans to improve the overall efficiency of the safety and security functions.

    • Develops and oversees financial management including budget, salary, capital, and revenue projections and secures approvals from the leadership.

    • Proactively identifies, develops, implements and manages best practices for current and future security and safety strategies and programs for MSC.

    • Develop and oversee emergency preparedness and operations center for the entire organization.

    • Analyzes weaknesses and develops comprehensive proactive plan to mitigate security and safety risk to company assets.

    • Develops and implements policies and procedures to mitigate potential losses and train staff using best practices.

    • Participates in design and implementation of total quality management initiatives; advises administration of deficiencies or areas of non-compliance in Quality Management.

    • D irects and administers the implementation of all safety and security programs and initiatives to ensure the safety of guests and team members and the security of MSC facilities.

    • Hires, manages, coaches, and leads safety and security team.

    • Supports and assists in the development, implementation and auditing of the health, safety, and security systems.

    • Develops, implements and tracks KPIs associated with health, safety, and security risks. Will develop an organizational scorecard with both leading and lagging metrics.

    • Analyzes health, safety, and security data to implement proactive risk mitigation and programs.

    • Recommends capital expense and changes to improve operations and security, improve controls, minimize risk, and negotiates solutions or corrective action.

    • Develops, implements, and maintains behavior-based safety systems in CFC's and branches as needed.

    • Develops, implements, and maintains ergonomic programs designed to reduce injuries and illnesses.

    • Responsible for the development of health, safety, and security training.

    • Coordinates process and responses to Agency inspections and inquiries.

    • Performs risk assessments and hazard detection at all MSC properties including CFC's and branches.

    • Performs building wellness analyses and executes on critical projects.

    • Assist in crisis planning and communication. Facilitates business recovery at CFCs and branches.

    • Conducts insurance claims loss analysis evaluations in conjunction with corporate claims management efforts to identify exposures and risk to the organization.

    • Periodic monitoring of reported claims. Ensures that Incident/Injury investigation analysis is completed by team members as needed.

    • Leads and coordinates FM Global property insurance associated with CFC's and branches.

    • Acts as a lead for health and safety on the ESG council.

    • Liaisons and coordinates security for national and international third-party security providers.

    • Performs all duties inherent in the role of an MSC Manager, including hiring, terminations, and development of associates.

    • Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the Company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC's mission.

    • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

    • INDICATES ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in health, safety, or other related science or engineering.

    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred, not required.

    • Minimum ten (10) years direct safety and security experience in manufacturing or warehousing

    • Prior safety, security or management experience required.

    • Minimum of five years experience in managing associates required.

    SKILLS:

    • Working knowledge of occupational health and safety compliance required.

    • Working knowledge of rules, regulations, and guidelines of various international, federal, or state

    • agencies governing health, safety & security activities required.

    • Understanding of Workers Compensation System required.

    • Understanding of Microsoft applications, Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook required.

    • Effective technical writing ability and proficiency with window-based applications required.

    • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal, organizational, planning and follow-up skills required.

    • Excellent analytical, time management, financial, problem solving, leadership and communication skills required.

      OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 50% of the time are required.
