    Job Summary:

    Bechtel is seeking a Cost Estimator for the Reston, VA location is supporting the corporate estimating team in developing and maintaining processes, procedures and tools across the corporation. Support the development of our "Cloud-based" database application and assist with creating innovative insights and forward-looking Business Intelligence analytics in Power BI to improve the estimating department's validation and analytics capabilities.


    • Development of business intelligence and data analytical Power BI dashboards and visualizations, both independently and as part of a larger group effort.

    • Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects.

    • Provide support in the development of estimating tools and software.

    • Provides estimating support for major corporate initiatives

    • Analyzes and associate relationships between database contents of historical project data.

    • Assists in the maintenance of the costs, quantities, ratios and metrics of the historical cost databases.

    • Work closely with a cross-functional team to assure that business requirements are accurately represented in the design and implementation phases.


    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Information Management or equivalent technical field of study from an accredited university and 5+ years of experience in the EPC industry.

    • Intermediate to advance knowledge and experience with Power BI and MS Excel preferred, intermediate knowledge of Power BI workspace, app and dashboard development required.

    • Intermediate knowledge of querying and shaping data from APIs and databases, specifically in relation to Microsoft Azure and SQL.

    • 2+ years of experience writing basic reports in Excel or other reporting software.

    • Understand how data moves from operational source systems across the organization, through the various transformation processes, to where it is ultimately used by decision-makers

    • Some travel may be required


    • Ability to communicate effectively with others in a project team.

    • Demonstrate a basic knowledge in EPC estimating practices and methods.

    • Knowledge of engineering performance, manual labor performance, equipment production and derivation of manual and non- manual wage/salary rates.

    • Skills in oral and written communication.

    • Demonstrated skill to identify, analyze and solve problems in a logical, expedient and decisive manner.

    • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.

    • Experience with Bechtel project control tools
