Cost Accountant

Description

Our exclusive client, a national manufacturer of finished products, has an immediate need for a Sr Cost Accountant. They are willing to be aggressive with compensation in order to find the right candidate.

As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will play a key role in overseeing and optimizing our manufacturing cost processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in standard manufacturing cost, inventory control, inventory audit, cycle count, and proficiency in Epicor ERP system. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate cost accounting, identify cost-saving opportunities, and contribute to the overall financial success of the company.

The Senior Cost Accountant will manage the entire cost accounting process while reporting to the plant controller.

Responsibilities

Standard Manufacturing Cost Management

Establish and maintain standard costing for manufacturing processes.

Analyze and evaluate variances between standard costs and actual costs.

Inventory Control and Audit

Implement and maintain effective inventory control procedures.

Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

Develop strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce carrying costs.

Cycle Count Management

Lead and execute cycle count programs to ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during cycle counts.

Epicor ERP System Utilization

Utilize the Epicor ERP system to streamline cost accounting processes.

Provide support in system enhancements and upgrades related to cost accounting.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

Generate reports and analysis related to manufacturing costs and inventory.

Provide insights into cost trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and finance.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement cost-effective solutions.

Requirements - Knowledge of organizational accounting concepts

• Understanding of cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates

• Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

• 2 years of Cost Accounting work experience

• Extremely detailed and analytical

• Bachelors degree in accounting or related field

• Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
