Controller

Description

Our client is a closely held construction company that has an immediate opening for a Controller. This Controller position is the #1 financial position for the company and reports directly to company leadership. This role will be the primary face of accounting for the organization and be responsible for building the accounting infrastructure from scratch.

Responsibilities for the Controller include the following

• Manage and provide guidance regarding day to day activities within various accounting groups including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and corporate accounting.

• Oversee and ensure all accounting controls, methods and procedures are being followed in these respective areas.

• Develop and strengthen accounting policies and procedures* Prepare month end journal entries and account reconciliations

• Prepare and analyze the monthly variance analysis including identifying and investigating all unusual or material variances

• Assist with the preparation of the month end financial statements and ensure that they are prepared in accordance with GAAP

• Comply with local, state and government reporting requirements & tax filings

• Aid in the preparation of audit schedules for the Company's year-end financial audit

*Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports

To be considered for this Controller position you MUST have the following qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business. 7+ years of experience in accounting a must. Experience in the construction, job cost, work in process accounting, or similar is a huge plus. Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll experience.

Requirements

Requirements for the Controller position include

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business. CPA a HUGE plus.

7+ years of experience in accounting a must.

Experience in the construction, job cost, work in process accounting, or similar is a huge plus.

Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll experience.
