    BWX Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Communications Specialist for Advanced Technologies LLC and Technical Services Group companies.

    This position will be based in Lynchburg, Virginia. The primary focus of this position is employee communications, with additional involvement in events and external communications.

    Responsibilities/duties include:

    • Develop and execute effective employee communications strategies, plans and deliverables that drive employee engagement.

    • Create or assist with the development of a wide variety of company communications such as executive messages, blogs, videos, newsletters, internal websites, social media, brochures, fact sheets, scripts, posters, banners and others supporting employee communications.

    • Support the business development team with communications-specific deliverables for government services proposals.

    • Coordinate the execution of employee engagement events, community relations activities, media relations, customer strategic events, site tours and trade shows as needed. Some of this work must be accomplished after normal business hours and on weekends.

    • Be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive contributor to the efforts of the Communications department and company as a whole.

    Minimum job requirements:

    • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.

    • Three to five years of corporate communications experience is required.

    • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

    • Ability to report to an assigned work location as scheduled. This is not a remote work opportunity

    Additional job requirements:

    • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience in developing story ideas, researching content, understanding the most effective medium for delivering messages to a specific audience, producing the content and submitting it error-free for approval.

    • Interviews will include a writing test. Please submit a portfolio of past work demonstrating competency in the above job responsibilities with your application.

    • Ability to create and execute a communications plan that delivers measurable results.

    • Ability to post materials to internal and external websites using various software programs.

    • Ability to organize internal and public events involving multiple elements that require detailed organization and coordination with others and represent the company while working at those same events as needed.

    • Ability to work well in a matrixed organization and independently without onsite direct supervision.

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and basic graphic design and video-editing software.


    The Communications Specialist will work a 9/80 work week while receiving market leading pay, paid time off, paid winter holiday shutdown, educational refund plan, medical, dental, vision and service-based retirement contributions with additional 401k match.
