Today, these attributes still form the foundation of our American Express brand. Global Services Group (GSG) is responsible for the end-to-end management of credit, collections, and fraud operations. The primary focus is to protect American Express' receivable assets, while delivering on our customer commitment. Commercial Underwriting is one of the business units within Credit Operations which serves as a vital component of GSG. This team works to develop spend enablement, or limit exposure through effective risk mitigation, to prevent spending that will not be paid back - while building upon the customer's relationship with American Express.The successful candidate for this position will be a member of a seasoned and diverse team of Commercial Underwriting Analysts responsible for assessing credit risk for the American Express Business, Corporate and Merchant Financing portfolio. Core responsibility includes championing in-depth credit analysis of businesses, primarily small to medium size enterprises having substantial credit commitment/exposure with American Express. The analysis includes wide range of Business models, industry risk assessment coupled with support of internal and external model outputs to reach sound credit decisions.The candidate will work closely with key business partners to ensure sound credit decisions are made at all levels of the credit product cycle (Acquisitions, Customer Management and Collections).Qualifications+ The candidate will have stronganalytical abilities, thorough understanding of credit risk assessment,and solid understanding of financial accounting concepts including but notlimited to in-depth analysis of balance sheets, income statements,statement of cash flows and good understanding of the generalmacroeconomic environment+ 1 years of commercial/businesslending experience+ Understanding of applicablelaws and regulations, credit line decisions and process and the need to becompliant with internal and external guidelines and rules+ The applicant needs to be ananalytical thinker, problem solver and decision maker+ The successful applicant isresults oriented, demonstrates enthusiasm, resilience under stress, and awill to win attitude+ Ability to work effectively andefficiently in a fast paced centralized commercial underwritingenvironment+ Demonstrated ability to workindependently with minimal supervision+ Effective oral/writtencommunication skills with business partners and customers+ Displays highest level ofintegrity when dealing with customers/colleagues and processes+ Exceptional leadership andinterpersonal skills are a mustPreferred Additional: Credit card and Chargecard lending/banking experience is a plus.
