Commercial Credit Risk Analyst III

Overview:

Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and interpreting data on the Bank's Commercial Loan portfolio including preparation of trend analysis, exposure limits and various risk identification reports.

Develop tools allowing for the monitoring of movements in the portfolio, identify emerging risks and make recommendations to management.

Leverage knowledge to participate in departmental and enterprise-wide initiatives impacting the Commercial Portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Partner with Commercial Marketing and Business Line Leadership to discuss current portfolio tracking and business observations.

• Conduct portfolio segmentation analysis using origination, financial, demographic, behavioral, market, and economic data as appropriate.

• Obtain data from disparate sources, link information, check data integrity, and perform exploratory analysis. Develop programs to efficiently explore hypothetical questions.

• Monitor performance of loan portfolio credit quality; communicate issues to management; quantify business ramifications, Investigate any incident that may result in losses and compile findings for Management review.

• Leverage industry information and contacts to support analysis through trend comparison.

• Participate in cross-functional teams as SME for enterprise projects such as CCAR, Enterprise Data Warehouse, system implementation, etc.

• Partner with Credit Data Analytic group to formulate practical database problem solving approaches to business challenges.

• Develop Knowledge around various Banking Regulatory requirements. Regularly present portfolio risk summaries and dashboards to management.

• Perform special projects as requested by management.

• Leadership/mentor junior staff.

• Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities:

May function as mentor/coach for one to two Risk Analyst I or II- level employees

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mathematics, or related discipline, or in lieu of degree four or five years' credit risk, financial or business analysis experience. Two years' relevant experience in a Banking, Risk or Finance related analytical role. Strong analytical skills.

Education and Experience Preferred:

MBA preferred

Credit Analysis experience preferred.
