  • Description: Casualty insurance professionals looking for a change - Lockheed Martin has an opportunity to lead it's casualty programs and is seeking candidates that enjoy challenging projects and a fast paced cultural environment. The position reports to the Director, Property & Casualty Risk in Bethesda, MD.

    This leadership role is responsible for the management of Lockheed Martin's domestic and international Casualty insurance programs, including but not limited to Automobile Liability, Commercial General Liability, Errors and Omissions Liability, Cyber Liability, some Workers' Compensation etc. and providing general risk management support as Risk Manager to the Missiles & Fire Control business area.

    The principal responsibilities of the position are as follows for each assigned line of insurance

    • Manages the development, implementation, and administration of company casualty and property-loss insurance programs.

    ? Insurance renewals including renewal data; prepare applications, underwriting submissions, and renewal presentations; prepare renewal planning reports for Lockheed Martin management; oversee negotiations with carriers; prepare final renewal proposals for management approval; and obtain and review appropriate documentation for binding of coverage.

    ? Review policies for compliance with negotiated terms and prepare insurance summaries and any other necessary communications to the business units.

    ? Manage the reporting and adjustment of claims.

    ? Ensure compliance with all policy reporting requirements and applicable legal requirements.

    ? Development of performance standards for all parties involved in the claim handling process, negotiation of contracts with service providers, coordination of performance audits and site-specific cost containment assessments, follow-up on implementation of improvements, evaluation of the effectiveness of the overall cost containment program and performance of individual providers and providing appropriate education and support to the business units on workers' compensation matters.

    ? Provide the following risk management support to the Missiles & Fire Control business area:

    ? Identify risks through review of contracts, develop appropriate risk management strategies, and document risk review through written analyses.

    ? Support M&A activity as necessary.

    ? Respond to business units' ongoing risk management service needs; provide evidence of insurance coverage as required by contracts, leases, etc.; respond to questions regarding scope of Lockheed Martin insurance coverages; and arrange surety bonds where appropriate.

    ? Assist in preparation of filings for SAFETY Act Designation and/or indemnification under Public Law 85-804. with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.

    • Directs the analyses and definition of potential loss areas and determination of appropriate type and level of loss protection to be insured.

    ? Ensure compliance with all policy reporting requirements and applicable legal requirements.

    ? On an ongoing basis, assess Casualty risks throughout the Corporation and identify the need for additional types or levels of coverage.

    • Oversees preparation of specifications for broker or underwriter bids, evaluates bids, and recommends or concludes insurance contracts.

    • Develops and coordinates risk control programs to prevent losses and reduce premiums.

    Interested candidates should exhibit continual learning to maintain a high level of technical expertise in each of the assigned lines of insurance and in workers' compensation cost containment, and have or gain a familiarity with insurance law and basic litigation management.

    The position is based in Bethesda, MD with approximately 20% travel to business area sites and vendor meetings domestically and internationally.

    Basic Qualifications:

    - Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate risk management, insurance brokerage, or insurance company operations.

    - Familiarity with basic Property/Casualty insurance concepts

    - Effective communications skills (verbal and written)

    - Demonstrated knowledge of the insurance industry

    - Demonstrated business acumen

    - Demonstrated use of financial modeling in solving challenges

    Desired Skills:

    - 15 years experience in corporate risk management, insurance brokerage, or insurance company operations preferred.

    - Bachelors and/or Masters degree, ARM and or CPCU certifications

    - Demonstrated technical expertise in Casualty insurance and Workers' Compensation including claims management and cost containment

    - Familiarity with U.S. Government contracting practices and acquisition regulations.

    - Effective Project Management skills.

    - Effective use of Microsoft Office applications primarily Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook

    Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

    Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

    Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
