  • Account Reference Architecture (ARA) is an Entity Level Control for Citi's bank cash completeness globally. The platform and associated team provide and maintain a control for end-to-end completeness and integrity between all Citi owned cash ledger accounts, their respective cash bank accounts and associated reconciliations across all business lines globally. ARA is part of Securities/Markets/Lending (SML) Global Reconciliations Utility (GRU) organization. The function ensures that (i) all bank cash ledger accounts are appropriately mapped to the associated bank accounts and reconciled in an automated recon platform, (ii) all Citi owned cash bank accounts are appropriately reported in Citi's balance sheet and ledger, and reconciled in an automated recon platform, (iii) any bank accounts that bypass appropriate account management and maintenance policy are captured and appropriately established in the respective golden source repository, (iv) any discrepancies in data quality are remediated and captured via either the ARA Balance Validation process or exceptions generated through comparison to respective golden source repositories, to mention some.

    ARA has been positioned and approved for expansion to be the central completeness control across all SML balance sheet (i.e., including payable, receivable, suspense etc.) beyond bank cash. As such, to start with, the successful candidate will manage and oversee and support the underlying project team whose focus will be analysis, requirements gathering, establishing design and process flows, and partnering with Technology through to implementation. The new processes and scope will then be integrated and streamlined into current ARA framework, and, upon completion, will become part of the ongoing sustainability model. They will be part of proposing design solutions along with deep-dive analysis of the underlying data and partnering with stakeholders to establish roles and responsibilities and escalation governance. The role will then evolve into managing this target operating model on ongoing basis. This will establish ARA as the Balance Sheet Completeness Control providing enhanced, centralized and streamlined governance and oversight for Citi.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring integrity and completeness of Citi's book-to-bank relationships by investigating and analyzing breaks highlighted as part of the Balance Validation, Bank Account and Ledger Account processes. This will require in-depth analysis, thinking outside-the-box, and partnering with stakeholders and the team. The candidate is a professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others, in particular colleagues in other areas. They provide advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Their work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the organization. They will be able to accomplish this task by meeting, at minimum, below responsibilities:

    Responsibilities:

    • Partner with stakeholders to formalize and finalize associated requirements of the control framework implementation for the new scope. Work alongside project team to successfully roll out ARA expansion.

    • Drive establishment and agreement of Roles and Responsibilities, and escalation governance across stakeholders.

    • Propose and design exception management and resolution processes for the new scope. Ensure appropriate documentation is in place and associated Standards of Procedures (SOP) are updated.

    • Provide advice on control requirements and treatment as it pertains to different balance sheet types (e.g., payable, receivable, suspense, bank cash etc.). Advise on the associated risks and potential control gaps.

    • Demonstrate rigor by challenging the status quo.

    • Manage and oversee day to day responsibilities of the ARA Team that include, but are not limited to, validation of book to bank mappings, remediation of exceptions, and ensuring data quality.

    • Ensure the respective workstream targets are appropriately set, achieved, and maintained.

    • Track and report progress updates and ensure clear and concise metrics are prepared and communicated to management internally and externally. Oversee appropriate reporting is prepared associated with escalations and status updates on different frequency basis.

    • Ensure issues are reported, profiled, and escalated appropriately.

    • Accountable for integrity of process, operations, associated risks and end results.

    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for bank cash control framework and provide guidance and support to the respective stakeholders and the team internally.

    • Participate, contribute and drive strategic efforts of the team to drive improvements and reduction of Manual Touch Points in the processes. View ARA from a bigger picture perspective and propose any enhancements and/or fixes in the existing process to continuously improve upon completeness and accuracy of ARA.

    • Work closely with Technology team to ensure any enhancements and/or fixes are appropriately submitted, tested, and released. Apply comprehensive understanding of ARA process flows to enhance the ARA processes for continued growth.

    • Responsible for analysis of issues, validation and remediation of bank cash completeness exceptions and any associated gaps as it pertains to ledger mapping, bank account mapping, recon validation, balance validation, data quality between the respective golden sources, among others.

    • Oversee that the respective processes run in line with the Standards of Procedures (SOP), SLA's and KPI's. Ensure SOP is updated as and when required in line with any changes in processes. Apply comprehensive understanding of concepts and procedures and remediate discrepancies (if any).

    • Establish a remediation process and steps for any out of balance cases, where appropriate.

    • Apply knowledge of reconciliations and balance sheet substantiation process to suggest any resolution steps where applicable.

    • Influence decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization.

    • Apply creative thinking, subject matter expertise and problem solution skills to re-mediate discrepancies by working individually, with the team or by partnering with other teams.

    • Understand how areas collectively integrate within ARA as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business.

    • Develop and maintain effective relationships, and collaborate closely with key partners and stakeholders, such as, Bank Network Management, Global Reconciliation Utility, Finance, Balance Sheet Substantiation, and Operations/Business teams, to mention some. Partner with clients/stakeholders to identify any potential areas of improvement and implement them (where applicable) and address any queries.

    • Provide value-added perspective or advice that contributes to the development of new techniques and change-the-bank initiatives. Develop and exercise business plans, policies and procedures, and demonstrate an ability to lead projects and offer innovative solutions.

    • Stay abreast of developments within the function and consider its implications for own job and the broader business strategy.

    • Take responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness, and delivery of complex deliverables.

    Qualifications:

    • 7+ years of experience

    • Product Management experience highly preferred (i.e., function/process/capacity management experience)

    • Strong understanding of reconciliations and ledger/balance sheet processes in banking field is required and critical

    • Change management and leadership skillset is beneficial

    • Project coordination, reporting, leading skillset is highly preferred

    • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills are required

    • Ability to consistently work to a high level of accuracy is crucial

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to recognize key issues / implications and to escalate in a timely manner are critical

    • Experience leading enhancements to process is highly preferred. Experience working with Technology and rolling out requirements is highly preferred.

    • Self-motivated and proactive with strong organizational and time management skills

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical - strong interpersonal skills are critical, ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, ability to influence across teams and levels
