    Position Specific Description

    Palms Insurance is NextEra Energy, Inc.'s wholly-owned insurance subsidiary that provides coverage for both affiliated and non-affiliated insurance risks. The Palms finance team is an integral part of developing strategy for managing risk and executing on growth initiatives. We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious accountant who enjoys operating in an evolving environment with a diverse and growing book of business. Key responsibilities include the following:

    -Prepare monthly journal entries

    -Prepare and maintain monthly premium billings and invoice payment logs

    -Perform account reconciliations in key accounts

    -Review and run reports in SAP

    -Prepare financial statements for statutory filings

    -Assist finance team with ad-hoc reporting, including research and actual vs forecast analysis

    -Participate in the development and delivery of continuously improving reports to management

    -CPA Preferred

    -Insurance industry experience preferred

    Job Overview

    Employees in this role assist in researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, recommending possible solutions, and assisting with the follow-up activities to resolve them.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities

    • Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company

    • Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls

    • Independently prepares schedules and journal entries

    • Keeps abreast of and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures

    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business

    • Experience: 2+ years

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's - Business Administration

    • Master's - Accounting / Finance
