Don’t Give Up on Reaching Your Career Goal

Have you gotten to the point where you are ready to quit trying to find the career of your
dreams? This is not uncommon if you find yourself struggling to stay positive about finding a job you would really love. Despite your efforts, you seem to face one dead end after another. Don’t give up. There are some excellent examples from people well over the age of 50 that have succeeded despite the odds.

Colonel Harland Sanders
In 1952, Colonel Harland Sanders, the man who invented Kentucky Fried Chicken, decided to embark on selling his secret recipe to restaurant owners at the age of 65 years. He did so after he received one of his first monthly social security checks. He was so disgusted at the paltry amount the government sent him, that he vowed to make it on his own.

Persistence Pays
He knew his chicken recipe was a good one. He just needed to convince enough potential customers to buy the rights to use it in making their chicken. He called on over 1000 restaurants before he started to make some sales.

Wikipedia reports that by the early 1960s, Kentucky Fried Chicken was sold in over 600 franchised outlets in both the United States and Canada. Sanders sold the entire KFC franchising operation in 1964 for $2 million US dollars, equal to approximately $14 million dollars in today’s currency.

What allowed him to succeed? Colonel Sanders had a burning desire to become successful in selling something he believed in. He would not quit until he succeeded and succeed he did!

If you have a burning desire, it is possible, no matter how old or young you are, to find the job of your dreams or to start your own company. With the right focus and efforts, you can succeed. The key is to be very clear on what you want to accomplish, and then put together a plan by which you can accomplish it. Who knows. You too, could become an example to others, who wish to accomplish something great.
