Nexxt, Inc., the premier Career NetworkTM focused on helping people grow and succeed, polled hundreds of IT professionals across its Technology Channel to learn what IT area they believe is the most important to invest in with the reduction of government spending.
The IT field of green technology received more than 42 percent of the votes. The most common reason given for voting in favor of green technology? The majority of individuals will tell you that it has to do with global warming. The field of IT uses so many energy forces which can create a lot of greenhouse gas emissions, including large amounts of CO2. At large, those who promote this idea of reducing CO2 emissions, seek a goal of reducing our society’s dependence on fossil fuels for generating electric power. Going green with technology is very costly however, with having to test alternative forms of energy sources and their value compared to fossil fuels. The path to the answer is not always apparent either, which is where experimenting can also become quite costly. With environmental groups pushing the education of global warming, the formation of renewable energy and earth-friendly sources have taken stage across the world. With government spending put into green technology, the U.S. can cut energy waste, start protecting the environment, and ultimately promote a safe and prosperous future for our world. On the small scale, it would save millions of people money on fuel bills and create new jobs which can stimulate the economy, creating more funds for other IT fields. Ultimately, it appears that in order for there to be a future for other IT fields such as cloud computing and data centers—spending must first be spent on improving society’s living conditions to sustain the planet.
