SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Qualcomm Inc. has reorganized its operations as more executives leave the company. Len Lauer, chief operating officer of Qualcomm (San Diego), has resigned and accepted a CEO role at another undisclosed company. As part of the changes, the Qualcomm MEMS Technologies (QMT) organization will now report to Steve Mollenkopf, executive vice president and president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT). QMT is the company's new display business. All remaining services businesses will now report to Steve Altman, president. Earlier this month, Qualcomm announced the appointment of Rich Sulpizio as president and CEO of Qualcomm Enterprise Services (QES). Sulpizio rejoins Qualcomm with more than 10 years of experience in the company, including previously serving as Qualcomm's president and COO. Sulpizio replaces Bob Walton, who decided to look for other opportunities. Qualcomm recentlyreported quarterly sales and guidance that fell short of analyst expectations, but the company announced the extension of a license agreement with South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. reportedly worth more than $1.3 billion over 15 years.
