Acquisition Trendy Among Tech Vendors

Seems like the need to buy more is running high among top tech companies. Companies such as Google, Amazon and Dell are rapidly buying companies to overall increase their product and service portfolio. Google has spent $1.6 billion on more than 20 companies in the first nine months of the year, according to regulatory filings. Some of Google’s past big acquisitions include YouTube and DoubleClick. Amazon announced that they planned to spend $500 million on Quidsi Inc. which is a family of specialty and niche market retailers. Dell is using deals to increase their market of data centers. Dell is competing with HP, IBM and Oracle to become the one-stop shop for data-center technology. Dell intends to take its time with future deals, so that it doesn’t increase prices so much, Chief Financial Officer Brian Gladden said last week in an interview at Bloomberg headquarters in New York.
