AINA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced compliance professional to join its Legal and Compliance Department. Based out of Chicago, Illinois, the Vice President of Compliance will be responsible for managing the compliance aspects of AINA’s cross border activities, including product development, distribution, regulatory compliance and adherence to policies and procedures. Other responsibilities of the role include oversight and integration of the compliance programs of various U.S. affiliated companies. The position with report to AINA ‘s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer.
Experience and Requirements:
The successful candidate ideally will have eight or more years of compliance experience with a global asset management firm or law firm, with an emphasis on cross border activity and offshore funds. A JD or MBA is preferred. A solid understanding of securities laws related to investment advisers, private investment funds and distribution is a must. Experience in registered investment companies, derivatives and CFTC/NFA rules is strongly preferred.
The VP of Compliance must be able to analyze situations for compliance and business risk; implement solutions for solving compliance issues; and interact effectively with other departments and the global organization. Excellent judgment and discretion are required. The VP must be a self-starter that enjoys a team approach and have excellent oral, presentation and written skills. S/he must have a hands on, “roll up the sleeves” personality and a strong work ethic; a strong, logical mind, with the ability to think critically and make clear and well-reasoned decisions; and pragmatic business acumen with the ability to recognize the business consequences of decisions.
S/he must have outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and interact effectively with external and internal clients at all levels of the organization and must be able to identify critical issues requiring action and convey them in a manner that is useful to the firm. The position requires gravitas, credibility, and self-confidence, but also considerable collaboration; the ability to engender respect, confidence and trust; and the ability to engage in constructive discussions and to disagree with others in a manner that adds substance to the discussion. An exemplary reputation for personal and professional integrity and the ability to communicate the commitment to ethical conduct is essential.
