The primary purpose of this role is to support the sales and marketing efforts of LPL Financial advisors directed towards High Net Worth and Institutional clients. This is achieved by educating financial advisors on the unique needs of these client types including estate planning, concentrated stock positions, socially responsible investing, charitable giving, trust planning, and sophisticated investment solutions. Further, on a tactical level, the HNW consultant provides consulting on individual client cases from the proposal stage through the final client presentation. HNW Consultants must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and knowledge in order to be a trusted consultant for financial advisors.
* Client/Institution Case Consultations - Required to consult with financial advisors on new sales opportunities which are escalated from the territory Internal Advisory Consultant. This involves performing a detailed needs analysis of the prospect through analyzing existing account statements and performance reports, determining appropriate risk tolerance, identifying estate/trust planning needs and understanding short and long term goals for assets. Because HNW and institutional clients have strikingly different needs than regular retail clients, it is essential for the HNW consultant to have the ability to understand multi-faceted investment plans and diagnose complicated financial issues. Once a comprehensive needs analysis is completed, the HNW Consultant provides options for consideration relative to asset allocations and/or manager selections as well as product solutions including managed accounts and alternative investments. These proposals are prepared by the HNW consultant in various proposal tools such as zephyr, Investor Presentation & Proposal tool, and the Portfolio Review Tool. For institutional clients, the HNW consultant must be able to complete case analyses within the context of a Request for Proposal (RFP), a customized, detailed questionnaire supplied by an institution/endowment/etc. * HNW & Institutional Client Training & Education - Required to train advisors on the various needs of HNW and institutional clients including trust services, investment management, tax sensitive investing, alternative investments, estate and financial planning, insurance, risk management, single stock risk management, banking/lending, account aggregation, planning giving and philanthropy. Also required to consult with financial advisors about all aspects of the LPL advisory platforms including positioning from a practice management perspective, economics, features and functionality of all five platforms, and ultimately provide portfolio considerations for advisors' prospects. Must possess the ability to articulate market and economic impacts as well as technical investment characteristics of portfolios and underlying securities. * Marketing - Must be able to assist in the creation of marketing materials for the HNW Consulting team which articulate the value proposition of the group and the many was in which we can help advisors compete for clients in the HNW and institutional client space. Involves writing articles for various LPL publications, writing copy for brochures and creating client facing materials such as fact finders. * Reporting - Must be able to manage HNW proposal database and manipulate the data for various levels of sales reporting. * Manager - Manage other team members on a day-to-day basis on the High Net Worth Consulting Team
* Use questioning techniques to diagnose advisor and client needs and provide appropriate options for consideration. * Assist financial advisors with analyses of existing prospect porfolios. * Work cooperatively across Advisory & Brokerage Consulting to faciliate cross referrals * Work cooperatively with other LPL departments to faciliate cross referrals. * Maintain current knowledge and understanding of LPL Research models and updates, industry trends, etc. * Attain certain professional designations - such as Accredited Investement Fiduciary,, Certified Investment Management Analyst, Certfied Financial Planner, Certfied Private Wealth Advisor, Accredited Estate Planner as appropriate. Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree with a focus in business/finance/economics * A minimum of 5 to 7 years experience with a focus in advisory & fee based platforms and financial planning * Series 7 and 65/66, Required, Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF ) designation also required; CIMA or CFP preferred. * 5% Travel expected to regional, national, and advisor events/offices for consultation support and training/education. . * Position interacts primarily with LPL financial advisors, with colleagues within Advisory & Brokerage and with members of other product sales departments such as insurance and fixed income. Consulting, particularly critical to build effective working relationships with other sales consultants, as well as other LPL departments including LPL Research, financial planning, PTC, fixed income, insurance, BTS, LPL Marketing ,etc. * Excellent communication skills - verbal and written, creative problem-solving, effective decision making, ability to diffuse tense situations, ability to multi-task, good follow-up skills, upbeat and outgoing personality.
