Summary The McGraw-Hill Companies is seeking a Vice President of Global Income Tax Reporting responsible for managing and directing the tax accounting functions worldwide for financial statement reporting. This position will lead and manage tax accounting support under ASC 740 and FIN 48. The successful candidate must have significant experience in accounting for income taxes in a leadership position and demonstrate executive presence in a dynamic environment. The candidate will also proactively provide technical expertise in solving problems and provide innovation in accounting for income taxes. This position will manage a small team and report to the Senior Vice President of Tax.

Principal Responsibilities
Lead the development and review of the quarterly effective tax rate and annual tax provision for global operations.
Review U.S. and international tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 and FIN48.
Review financial statement tax disclosures.
Provide corporate governance and coordination of SOX 404 requirements and maintenance of related processes and procedures.
Provide financial statement tax accounting support for the development and implementation of income tax strategies to minimize the effective tax rate.
Monitor issues and changes in accounting for income taxes.
Collaboratively research, analyze, interpret and apply US and international tax laws and principles for the impact on accounting for income taxes.
Review of income tax related information contained in SEC filings.
Primary interface with external auditor to coordinate quarterly and annual reviews.
Develop multi-year effective tax rate modeling.
Interact and actively collaborate with the Corporate Controller and with the Controllers staff.
Develop tax accounting assessments of internal restructurings and external merger, acquisition and divestiture transactions.
Proper interpretation and application of all tax technical accounting pronouncements to reported results and new business initiatives and issues.
Partner with other personnel in the Tax Department responsible for Federal and State income tax compliance, audits and planning.
Monitor tax attributes, tax contingencies, and valuation allowances.
Create a climate that fosters individual professional development and establish a structure to produce operational excellence in tax accounting and reporting.
Assist with special tax projects, including tax planning and tax technology implementation.
Present tax accounting results to Senior Leadership.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Public Accounting from an accredited institution, MS in Taxation preferred. CPA preferred. Law degree with LLM in Tax is a plus.
10+ years experience in US and international income tax in a large public accounting firm or Fortune 500 company.
Experience in developing, leading and managing a strong team.
Exceptional accounting and analytical skills with demonstrated expert-level proficiency in FAS 109 (ASC 740), FIN 48 and other tax technical accounting pronouncements.
Strong project, people management and organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work as hands-on, self motivator and willing to work cross functionally with other departments.
Ability to operate at both the strategic and operational level.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Organize, prioritize, and control job responsibilities to meet compressed deadlines and changing priorities.
Flexible to adapt to changing priorities.
TaxStream software experience strongly preferred. Experience with other Thomson Reuters software products also preferred.
