Description
Operations and Administration (O&A) is responsible for the development of the firm's operating infrastructure to support BlackRock's investment businesses worldwide. O&A establishes and coordinates operational procedures internally and externally with clients, custodians, accounting agents, prime brokers, broker-dealers and other vendors and is responsible for managing BlackRock's relationships.
The Global Fund Accounting & Commingled Vehicles Services Oversight group focuses on fund accounting & custody, financial/regulatory reporting, tax advisory services and performance reporting. Additionally, the group provides information and interacts regularly with the Boards of Directors, Legal & Compliance, Account Management and Portfolio Management.
Accountabilities:
* The US Fund Accounting Associate will serve as a lead in all functions related to daily accounting oversight and board reporting. * Conduct daily functions using appropriate controls * Work with custodians, brokers, vendors and various internal departments to resolve operational and accounting issues * Train new members of team * Communicating with all levels of management * Complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner * Sets or refines priorities as business needs change
Skill and Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in accounting is preferred * GAAP experience preferred * Minimum of 3 years of mutual fund accounting * Minimum of 5 years of securities operations/accounting experience in a custodial bank, brokerage or mutual funds company required * Knowledge and/or production of board reporting preferred * Vendor oversight preferred * Ability to interact with all levels of the organization * Excellent computer and communications skills * Enjoys a fast-paced, high-intensity environment * Able to multi-task and absorb information across broad spectrum of products * Exceptional attention to detail * Strong analytical/problem solving capabilities * Has an entrepreneurial spirit that is willing to take on additional responsibility quickly
