Department Overview The Finance department covers Product and Financial control. Both Product and Financial Control are jointly responsible for the integrity of the financial records of Barclays Capital. Within Finance, the Tax department is responsible for managing tax risk in Barclays Capital and provides tax support to all business areas. Members of the team are located in London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, India and Tokyo. Main Function Front office, Tax Compliance and Transfer Pricing support to business and support units in Asia Pacific, particularly for the Equities Business. Main Duties Management of tax risks arising from Barclays Capital businesses in Japan: * Provide tax advisory and compliance support to front office, business and support functions * Provide transfer pricing compliance and advisory support * Work together with the Global Transfer Pricing team to assist in the formulation and roll out of new and revised transfer pricing policies including those for the equities business * Ensure adequate transfer pricing documentation is in place, including those for the equities business * Identify transfer pricing policy gaps and work towards closing those gaps * Provide tax input in the New Product Sign-Off process * Provide indirect tax advisory and compliance support * Managing tax audits and provide tax guidance during the course of the audit * Providing tax support to the Tokyo Tax Director Person Requirements Qualifications /Education * ACA or equivalent * TopTier University * First Time Passes, ATII or equivalent Experience required * 7 or more years of PQ taxation experience in financial services, preferably at least 2 years of PQ taxation experience in a bank Skills and Knowledge * Ability to review problems from different view points, devising and implementing practical solutions * Strong control awareness * Desire to provide top quality service/deliverable to internal clients * Excellent people skills, both communication and active listening * Enthusiastic, motivated, self-starter and team player * General knowledge of transfer pricing methodology and process * Knowledge of financial products and ability to apply the correct tax treatment on such products Candidate Profile * Proactive person who challenges processes and looks for improvements * Confident and able to deal with demanding internal clients * Able to work independently as well as being a team player
