Job Summary
Storage Administration performs the management, implementation, design, support and continuous improvement of the Storage Area Network infrastructure (e.g. storage virtualization, zoning, tiered storage designing, etc.) at Comdata.
Responsibilities:
* Administration of Storage Area Networks including storage arrays, switches, directors and automated tape libraries
* Administration of large scale enterprise backup
* Support for multiple host operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Sun Solaris, HP HPUX, IBM AIX, RedHat Linux, SUSE Linux
* Intermediate knowledge of multiple major vendor platforms
* Monitoring and completion of all incoming SAN service request workload to a required SLA
* Creation and management of required change approval documentation and approvals
* Attendance during change approval meetings and LOB planning sessions as required
* Maintain operational support and run book documentation
* Execution of planned changes, updates to change management records per process.
Qualifications:
* 4 year degree or equivalent work experience
* 2 years experience in the Distributed Storage environment
* 2 years experience in an associated technology supporting servers or networks
* 2 years experience zoning hosts to storage via a CISCO Fabric Management software
* 2 years experience initializing, provisioning, virtualizing and externalizing storage
* 2 years experience installing, configuring and maintaining I/O multi-pathing software such as Hitachi Device Link Manager
* 2 years experience installing, configuring and maintaining Hitachi Tuning Manager for capacity planning and tuning
* 2 years experience installing, configuring and maintaining Hitachi Tiered Manager software enabling dynamic, non-disruptive LUN movement
* 2 years experience designing and deploying local/remote mirroring solutions for backup and disaster recovery. Knowledge of Hitachi Shadowimage or Universal Replicator
* 2 years experience with Commvault Simpana or equivalent enterprise backup solution
* Problem resolution in large scale production environment with hosts utilizing AIX, Solaris, HPUX, Linux and Windows
* Experience with IBM automated tape library and virtual tape library solutions
* Intermediate knowledge/experience designing and deploying snapshot
* Has strong inter-personal and communication skills and is capable of explaining complex procedures in writing or verbally with the ability to communicate well at a technical level, both verbally and in writing.
* Must possess the ability to develop procedures and standard operating practices to manage and report on the performance of the storage environment in order to meet individual and team goals.
* Must work well with others as part of larger team and be able to collaborate on cross functional teams providing technical direction for storage issues. Able to work independently toward goals set at a higher level without being micro-managed.
* Must be available and willing to work extended and/or alternative hours as needed for issue resolutions, roll-outs, system upgrades, etc.
* The ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force.
