The Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology () at the University of Rochester has a position open for a Lead Software Developer within the dynamic research environment of the Center for Biodefense Immune Modeling (). We are looking for a lead software developer with proven experience in managing a software development team and delivering high-quality software products. The candidate must have solid experience developing both desktop and web applications using Java, C++, C# and database. The candidate must also have experience in applying software development tools, including version control, issue tracking, and project management. Knowledge of statistics or mathematics and graduate degree are a big plus. This position combines project management/leadership, and design/development work in approximately equal proportions. Specific duties will include: - Lead a team of 3-5 programmers developing software tools for statistical and mathematical analysis - Responsibility for the overall product design and development - Work with biomedical scientists, mathematical modelers and statisticians to define application requirements and assess feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. - Design and manage QA/testing procedures to ensure that delivered products are both correct and reliable. - Develop long-term vision on development of new software projects and contribute to grant proposal writing process.. This is a full-time position research position, renewed annually, at the University of Rochester Medical Center. A short-term contract position is also available.
