The accountant reports to the accounting manager and is responsible for the monthly general ledger close, revenue recognition/analysis for assigned customer projects, and preparing standard and non-standard balance sheet account reconciliations. This position includes project accounting which requires the ability to analyze legal contracts and generate the appropriate accounting documents in an SAP environment.
Job Responsibilities
* Analysis of legal contracts and related entry of contract terms into SAP. * Work closely with finance to ensure appropriate and accurate revenue recognition. * Preparing and posting/uploading journal entries into SAP across a broad area of balance sheet and income statement accounts. * Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations on accounts including deferred revenue, unbilled revenue and accrued expenses. * Reviewing journal entries and financial reports for accuracy. * Working closely with personnel in other departments to ensure compliance with GAAP, Fiserv accounting policies and procedures. * Assist in audit preparation, both internal and external. * All other projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: * Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent business erience/Skills:
* 3 years of experience working with general accounting and balance sheet reconciliations. * Strong understanding of accounting theory. * Intermediate level knowledge of all accounting functions and related internal controls, including accounts receivable and accounts payable. * Good knowledge of US GAAP and willingness to research and resolve accounting application. * Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills a must. * Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts. * Detailed oriented and organized in work. * Ability to meet assigned deadlines. * Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external customers. Preferred: * SAP experience a significant plus.
