Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: A B.S. or B.A. degree in Accounting or Finance required; specialized bank finance education and training; obtain and maintain appropriate Bank Product Knowledge Certification.

Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; demonstrated proficiency in analyzing and interpreting financial statements, e.g., balance sheets, income statements, etc.; proficient PC skills; a working knowledge of bank functions relating to the accounting function; knowledge of current bank regulations impacting the accounting function; visual and auditory skills; valid driver's license.

Experience: None required


General Responsibilities

Responsible for performing administrative duties to support the accounting, financial reporting, and control functions; achieving goals as established in the Accounting Department's annual operating plan; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the accounting function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.

Essential Duties

1. Performs administrative duties to support the accounting, financial reporting, and control functions of which the following are illustrative:

a. Prepares weekly Treasury packet and all the related reports.

b. Prepares daily Fed Funds.

c. Prepares FR 2900 and FR 2644 reports weekly.

d. Prepares and reconcilements for internal DD accounts and general ledger accounts.

e. Maintains records for the pledging of collateral for all public depositors.

f. Prepares monthly reports such as Rolling Margin, Yields, and Liquidity Analysis.

g. Prepares monthly accruals.

h. Performs data entry.

i. Performs tasks related to accounting of Balance Sheet and Income Statement items.

j. Assists with external accountants/examiners as requested.

k. Assists with preparation of quarterly/annual SEC filings such as the 10-Q and 10-K.

l. Provides back up for accounts payable.

m. Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.


2. Achieves goals assigned to the Staff Accountant I as part of the Accounting Department's annual operating plan.

3. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.

4. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.

5. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.

6. Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.

7. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.

8. Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
