Job Summary
The Investment Public Markets Analyst provides analytical support to the UPS Investments Group. He / She will be a part of the Public Markets Team (i.e., Portfolio Managers responsible for Equities, Fixed Income, and Hedge Funds) and will be responsible for portfolio analysis and periodic reporting by developing and / or maintaining analytical tools and processes. The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, statistical modeling, research and analysis, manager due diligence and various ad hoc projects based on defined investment objectives. This position will participate in discussions regarding portfolio composition, potential asset managers, and the impact of macro-economic conditions on the portfolio. The ideal candidate will be assertive, enjoy working in a collaborative environment, organized, and have a fundamental understanding of security analysis and risk modeling. Candidates should also have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel with knowledge of VBA preferred.
Other Duties
Performs Research and Analysis
Performs analysis and research on asset classes (e.g. fixed income, equity, etc.) to enhance investment knowledge for the benefit of the Investments Group.
Supports Portfolio Managers through ad hoc research and analysis (i.e., exposure reporting, liquidity profiling, sensitivity analysis, etc.).
Documents research and presents findings in support of key investment objectives to Investments staff.
Assists in Designing and Maintaining Public Market Models and Reports
Assists in the design and development of statistical / mathematical models to support department objectives.
Develops and / or maintains analytical tools, processes, and reports to ensure accurate and timely information.
Identifies and manipulates relevant data (i.e., market, investments, etc.) to analyze and support investment decisions.
Supports the development of performance reports to provide data, analysis, graphs, and charts.
Catalogs incoming performance and account balance statements for the Public Markets portfolios (i.e., Fixed Income, Equities, Hedge Funds).
Assists in Screening and Selection of New Investments
Collaborates with Investment staff to design and build internal screening tools to aid in asset manager selection.
Receives and analyzes external data for the screening of new investment opportunities.
Aids in the development and testing of an investment thesis.
Provides support during all aspects of the due diligence process (i.e., analysis, documentation, organization, and record retention).
Assists with Investment Monitoring and Compliance Activities
Researches and analyzes investment data to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
Performs reconciliations to ensure asset values are fairly and accurately stated.
Conducts follow-up activities (i.e., deliverables, portfolio performance, etc.) with Portfolio Managers to secure additional information for analysis and evaluation.
Collaborates with the Compliance and Operations Group to ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
