Position Description
Ensure that the finance records of the Spinal & Biologics business are accurate and in accordance to Corporate Finance Policies and Procedures. Performs quantitative analysis / senior financial support for operations with minimal direction. Takes the initiative to identify a broad range of business issues, recommend solutions and provide support in the decision-making process to management. Identify, analyze, communicate, and resolve major financial and business issues, with impact achieving business objectives and strategic imperatives.
Serve as business partner and finance liaison to operations. Support all aspects of business combination accounting, cost accounting, fixed assets and intercompany activities.
Position Responsibilities
Perform the (cost) accounting activities for the Spinal & Biologics business including month end close work order management, inventory evaluation, obsolescence reserve, analysis of material, purchase price and other manufacturing variance, fixed asset and payroll, preparation of profit elimination reconciliation and royalties accounting. Lead and support the implementation of the Sarbanes-Oaxley (SOX) processes and policies into the Spinal & Biologics business. Understand and effectively apply internal control principles and objectives, including an understanding of Medtronic's Key Corporate Policies. Ensure the organization organization's financial activities follow corporate policies, good accounting practices, procedures and regulations establish by federal and local laws. Assure that accounting transactions are properly documented and accounts are reconciled on a monthly base. In close cooperation with local and divisional management, develops and implements performance measures that focus on key business drivers (financial and non-financial) to support long term performance and strategic objectives (for example, 25% Cost Reduction Initiatives). Proactively identifies areas of opportunity and supports team in implementing corresponding changes. Lead special projects, which may include but are not limited to: preparation of Management presentations, ROI on significant investments, systems analysis, and process improvement initiatives. Plays key role in the completion of organizational projects and goals, up to and including project management responsibility. Support Spinal & Biologics business Annual Operating Plan (AOP), forecasts and strategic plan by preparing and analyzing standard costs, manufacturing variances, etc. Support month end close processes. (preparation of reports, journal entries, account reconciliations, production and cost center variance investigation). Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting package with commentary as appropriate for area supported. Support and analyze Cost Center plans, forecasts and monthly results. Analyze actual versus forecast performance, with an emphasis on understanding and communicating how the company will business will meet its financial commitments. Responds to ad-hoc informational requests, investigation of G/L account activity, analysis of manufacturing costs and other requests as needed. Performs other duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications

5 + years accounting/finance in a manufacturing environment
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Fully bilingual: English and Spanish Must have solid proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint Excellent written and verbal communication Strong interpersonal and business partnering skills
