1. Major Purpose:
* Define, develop and deploy operational predictive models for Claims Research.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships with key stakeholders in Claims from senior leaders through model end users.




2. Scope information relative to job:
* Position reports to the head of Claims Research within the Applied Research and Product Development organization
* Position is a senior individual contributor, but will have significant responsibility for leading teams during model development projects.
* Role is expected to manage project deliverables within and established project plan.
* It is expected that this role is highly autonomous and self-managed consistent with a senior individual contributor and subject matter expert.
* Deliverables are complex by their nature with management of several projects anticipated to be live at the same time.




3. Major Functions (Four to six in order or importance. Include explanation and indicate whether function is essential or non-essential to the job.)

* Predictive Modeling. Define/Develop predictive models for deployment by Claims operations and Actuarial

* Client Relations. Manage client relations with Claims and Actuarial stakeholders both during model development, and post-deployment as on-going programs

* Quality Assurance. Tests and leads implementation of models, reinforcing use of QA principles and processes.

* Planning. Participate in planning sessions with clients and team members to analyze business requirements, assess feasibility of solutions, and provide design recommendations.

4. Technical/Functional Skills(Two to five) :
· Strong RDBMS query skills (SAS, SQL, Oracle)
· Strong predictive modeling skills (Regression, Linear Programming)
· Familiarity with predictive modeling tools (SAS, Emblem, R) a strong plus



5. Competencies(Two to five) :
· Strong client relationship skills with the ability to understand and translate business needs with the ability to influence the customer where appropriate
· Strong project management skills, with a focus on disciplined, but aggressive, execution
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and presentation
· Extensive experience applying decision science to operational processes
· Familiarity with large data management




Typical Education/Experience/Certifications/Licenses (Indicate preferred or required.) :
· BS/MS in a quatitative discipline (Math, Statistices, Operations Research, Actuarial Science)
· 8 years demonstrated in-depth operations and analysis experience
