We are currently seeking a Sr Consolidation Analyst . This position located in Columbus, Ohio.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Performs consolidation accounting, analysis and financial reporting of a complex nature of over 25 domestic and international reporting subsidiaries and the maintenance of Battelle's PeopleSoft enterprise resource planning (ERP) system (Catalyst) related to the general ledger for Battelle's Columbus Operations (BCO). Contributes to the overall governance, including strong internal controls, to improve net income and reduce the organization's risk of financial loss.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
-Produces and analyzes Battelle's monthly consolidated financial statements timely and accurately in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which includes global financial reporting and analysis. This includes the Consolidated Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, Working Capital and Statement of Changes in Equity.
- Provides consolidated financial statement data for Board of Directors, Loan Covenant Compliance and Battelle senior management.
-Acts as a liaison with external auditors and Battelle's subsidiaries to resolve accounting, general ledger, financial reporting matters including GAAP and governmental accounting. Routinely interfaces with other internal staff to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
-Subject matter expert in regards to the Catalyst system for maintaining the organizational technical hierarchy and attributes assigned to the organizational codes to ensure accurate reporting and strong internal controls.
-Responsible for the approving of all monthly Catalyst journal entries to ensure governance and maintain strong internal controls.
-Maintains knowledge of GAAP, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or FAR for required accounting and reporting.
-Prepares and submits government and internal reports in accordance with varying agency regulations (GAAP and/or FAR) i.e. subsidiary tax reporting.
-Maintains and reviews various general ledger accounts and related reconciliations such as Rabbi Trust, SERP, Other Investment Assets and Account Receivables for accuracy and related corrective actions.
-Performs the required accounting and routine analysis, reconciliation and corrective actions for the Battelle consolidation of all intercompany accounts and activities. This includes the tracking and resolution of international subsidiary accounts and non-cash transactions with the Battelle-managed Labs.
-Provides account analysis and Catalyst support for accurate accounting and reporting as assigned, such as Fixed Assets, Treasury, Accounts Receivables and BCO's Trial Balance.
-Coordinates and provides financial guidance and corrective actions in financial processes with various reporting subsidiaries for accounting and reporting matters.
-This position is responsible for the effective application of knowledge and judgment regarding accounting rules and knowledge of Battelle accounting and reporting to accurately reflect the consolidated financial statements and maintain the BCO general ledger.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's Degree (CPA or Master's preferred) with strong accounting or financial background. Five or more years of public, non-profit, accounting, audit or government accounting, financial analysis or related work experience.
-Thorough understanding of consolidation accounting principles.
-Knowledge of tools and techniques for PeopleSoft ERP system is desirable.
-Knowledge of Battelle policies and procedures is also desirable.
