Position Purpose: This position is the primary face of Market Data in front of external suppliers and RBC internal business partners globally. As part of our global Market Data team, this position partners with other Market Data professionals located in RBC offices worldwide. Duties include ongoing proactive cost management of market data services, managing vendor and business relationships, providing leadership to ensure proprietary applications have appropriate market data control and reporting mechanisms, participating in market data audits and procurement of new services and/or renegotiation of existing contracts. Key Accountabilities: Solutions delivery
.Responsible for evaluating new market data products and providing recommendations on services or solutions design for RBC FG .Provide "one-stop shop" expert counseling and support to global RBC user community on market data needs .Participate in market data architecture forums and planning sessions as well as support to projects (supplying subject matter expertise) .Develop a strong understanding of RBC businesses, services, procedures and processes in order to identify opportunities for improvements .Seek out content and solutions for strategic projects .Seek out industry trends to generate and recommend alternative approaches .Look for ways to leverage vendors and service partners to enhance service .Look for ways to leverage existing technology in place and avoid duplication
Compliance and control
.Provide leadership on best practices on market data control, logging and audit trail capabilities within proprietary applications .Participate in market data architecture forums and planning sessions as well as support to projects (supplying subject matter expertise) .Participate in regular exchange and vendor data use audits .Maintain awareness of third-party market data licensing policies (unit of count, etc)
Relationship and contract management
.Assist the group to manage several hundred vendor relationships and actively participate in vendor meetings .Maintain internal business relationships at Senior Manager and VP levels, prepare executive summaries on market data spend and recommendations on optimization of costs .Identify savings opportunities through contract reviews and firm-wide consolidation efforts
Financial
.Create monthly, quarterly and annual detailed market data expenditure reporting, including commentary on variances and expected financial forecasts, for presentation to various RBC business Operating Committees .In conjunction with MDS Control Office, review reporting on a regular basis to identify cost areas requiring attention .Conduct spend reviews and market data strategy sessions with select business units Job Requirements: (Knowledge/ Experience): KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: .Client Focus, Strategic agility, Priority setting, Business acumen, Analytical Thinking, Aptitude for setting realistic expectations, Strategic business sense, Integrity and Trust .Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills .Strong verbal and written communications skills
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: .University degree or 5 years experience in a technology/financial services environment .Previous experience in a market data environment required with a high level understanding of data feed technology (Wombat, RMDS, TIB, RV etc) and control mechanisms (DACS, DART). .US Series 7 Exam or equivalent business exposure .Experience in accounting or budgeting .Support experience in a trade floor environment an asset .Experience in negotiation of contracts (experience with US contract law an asset) .Experience defining clear solutions and strategy based on requirements presented Required Skills/ Competencies/ Attributes:
